What a great guitar lesson! A lot of my students have a hard time with alternate picking. I'm going to print this off for them to read. Thanks!

Hi fellow strummers,
This is a great article! I have been getting back to basics alot recently with the metronome mainly because I've been getting stuck in a rutt. The metronome is really improving my playing and I'm getting my confidence back.
Coolio!

It's great to have speed, but too many guitarists focus solely on speed. You do want to play with feeling, and to play something that makes musical sense.

I do agree that a metronome is every musicians best friend. Time is everything in music!

Thanks a lot James. I can already pick alternately at a decent speed, but I can't wait to go buy a Metranome tomorrow! And I'd like to stress the practicing on every string. Cuz thats huge be brave boys. Thx again. Check out the art of shredding on youtube first hit. I watch it constantly lol. peace.
